Take a 60-minute "get-away":

Pick a good moment, show up with her coat or sweater and walking shoes in hand and say, "Come on. I'm taking you for a walk!" (Or it could be for a short ride to first pick up some gourmet coffee to drink and then on to a local park or other ideal spot for a nice walk.) If child care is required to pull this off, you will have picked up a baby sitter and arranged for her, or the neighbor who is going to help you, to knock on the door just after you announce this spur-of-the-moment get-away.

As you walk, compliment her on one of her endearing qualities, mention things you noticed about the kids over Christmas, reveal something about yourself you normally don't, breath in deeply the fresh air, and discuss something you are looking forward to with her in the next two months,
