TIP: Ten-minute chats are a great bedtime habit (even by phone when you're away). Choose the topic from an assortment you've written in a small notebook. List questions you hear your child ask.
Try some of these ideas: My latest dream, A fear I felt today, What I'll be like when I'm older, The [best . . . happiest . . . hardest . . . funniest . . . etc.] thing I did today. Date your child's answers . . . and maybe note how you also answered the question. Your transparency sets the pace for your child's candor. A Reminder . . . Reading Dad e-tip e-mails is like eating at a buffet--you take what appeals to you and disregard the rest. Some Dad eTips will be appropriate to your fathering situation and ages of children and others won't. Don't miss this week's new "Romance Tip ". Click on the link in the blue area above. |
