INSIGHT: Do you recall why it is said, "The best thing you can do for your kids is to love their mom?" You've probably known the answer for a long time, but Valentine's Day is still a great time to be reminded. That answer is the foundation of your child's sense of security, especially in an era of declining commitment and rising divorce.

A parent is supposed to love his or her child--what caring dad isn't crazy about his children? But, being crazy in love with his wife . . .well, that's different. Kids know it's "optional". And when your marital love and commitment is steady and deep, the impact is made. Your child feels secure. Upon this foundation, he or she is fully free to grow, and develop in every healthy way.
